How it all happened

Well on April 30,2009 I rolled out of bed and told my husband that I didn't know how much longer I could go to work because I was so miserable. All day long I would have terrible contractions, some which landed me in labor and delivery several times, just to be sent home. Well this day was different I was having contractions all morning which really didn't shock me because I had contractions ever since about 30 weeks. But it was different, me and Amy, a girl that I work with, had been monitoring my contractions all morning and Kynlie was a little more active than usual for it to be this early. Well I was getting hungry so I decided to go to my mom's for lunch. We were sitting there eating hotdogs and I looked at my mom and said I think my water just broke. She said are you serious? So I went and checked and sure enough it had. I called my husband to let him know to come get me and of course he was busy busy.....So my parents drove me to his work to save time. All the way there all I could think of was this is it...no more sending me home..today is the day. We had begged to be induced 3 days earlier and they told me to go to labor and delivery and try to dilate to a 2. Of course, they put me in the bed...I mean seriously do they think you can dilate in bed...I don't think so. So we got sent home again brokenhearted. But I thought...... today was different there was no going home.

We called the Dr. to tell them we were on our way and she said well you can go to labor and delivery but they will probably send you home. I said are you kidding me my WATER BROKE!! She said oh I'm sorry I didn't know your water broke.......seriously if they would just listen I had just told her that....but anyway. We get over to the hospital and they check me to see if my water had broke and sure enough they tried to say it hadn't and they were going to send me home. Please people I think I know that my water broke. Finally she said they would just keep me and watch me until midnight if nothing happened they would induce then. So they were in and out all night. They told me to get plenty of rest but how can you get rest when they wake you up every 5 minutes???? So they monitored me closely and at midnight they said plans had changed they would induce me at 3:00 a.m.

At 3:00 a.m. they came in and started pitocin......A few minutes later the contractions were coming very strong and I didn't think I could handle them. After a while I called the nurse in and asked if I could have something for pain and they gave me Nubane. Well she came in about 30 minutes later and asked if it was helping and I told her no that they were getting worse. She said that Nubane didn't work on everyone. By this time I am in some pretty bad pain so she said she would get the anesthesiologist and get my epideral going. I have never been so glad to see someone in all my life. So they started the epideral and I was still having pretty bad contractions but managed to stay still long enough for him to insert the epideral. It took effect immediately and after that I was good to go. They told us to get some rest for a while and they would check me later to see if I had dilated.

The next time they came in they said I was 9 1/2 cm dilated and they were gonna get everything ready. I think they were shocked that I dilated that fast. In a few minutes the nurse came in and we got started pushing. She was the best nurse ever!! I kept asking her silly questions and she just laughed and laughed. Well actually we all did. We actually had a good time. It was a lot easier than I had thought it was going to be. After an hour of pushing they called the Dr. in and at 10:37 a.m. Miss Kynlie Claire joined us. Beautiful as ever....wow our lives were changed forever. What a great feeling to be responsible for another little life. It is truly a blessing. She is the best thing ever. She weighed 7 lbs. and 11 oz. and was 21 inches long. She is such a blessing and we are so grateful that we are her Mommy and Daddy. We can't wait to watch her grow and learn new things.
